Adobe Shared Device License 2.0 is Now Available

We’re pleased to announce an update to Adobe Shared Device Licenses (SDL). As a reminder, Shared Device Licenses enable your students, faculty, and staff to access Adobe Creative Cloud desktop apps and services in shared environments like labs, libraries, and classrooms.*

New Shared Device License 2.0 delivers three top-requested features from IT admins like you. Here are the details:

  1. A simplified sign-in experience presents only the information users need based on their license profile. For example, when the access policy is set to only allow Federated ID sign-ins, users will no longer see options to sign in with Facebook accounts.
  2. A sign-in prompt reminds users to save their work and sign out of Adobe Creative Cloud once they’ve finished a class or lab session.
  3. In the Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop App, the Apps panel is now visible and users can install and update apps. (During package creation, admins can enable or disable the option for users to install or update apps.)

The update was pushed out automatically on October 21, 2019, so there’s no action required on your part.

Shared Device License and Adobe Certified Associate In-App Exams

We have discovered that some schools are not currently able to use the Adobe Certified Associate (ACA) Live-in-the-App exams with Creative Cloud 2019 via the Shared Device License. For those schools that conduct ACA testing, we recommend that you delay your migration to SDL until compatible exams are available. Our certification partner, Certiport, plans to release exams for Photoshop and Illustrator early this winter, with the remaining titles launching before the spring testing season. If you have questions, contact the Certiport team at (888) 999-9830 or go to for email or live chat.

Shared Device License Now Supports Adobe Dimension

We’re also pleased to announce that Adobe Dimension is now available for Shared Device License. With Adobe Dimension, users can easily create high-quality, photo-realistic images with easy 2D and 3D tools in shared environments that have deployed shared device licensing.

For more information about the new features, review the Shared Device License Deployment Guide. Or, contact Adobe Customer Care for technical support via the Support tab in the Admin Console.
