A new version of Google Classroom

In August 2018, we (Google Suite) introduced a new version of Classroom that provides additional features, including a Classwork page to help teachers better organize assignments and questions by grouping them into modules and units. As a result, any newly created classes automatically include the Classwork page, with the option for instructors to revert classes back to the previous version of Classroom.

We are writing to let you know that the previous version of Classroom (without the Classwork page) is deprecated and will be discontinued on September 4, 2019. As a result, from September 4, 2019, instructors will no longer have the option to revert back to the previous version of Classroom.

Additionally, all classes still using the previous version will be automatically converted to the new version of Classroom on September 4, 2019. Your G Suite for Education domain, telkomuniversity.ac.id, has Classroom enabled and may be affected by this change.

What does this mean for my organization?

From September 4, 2019, all new classes will be created using the new version of Classroom and instructors within your domain will no longer have the option to revert back to the previous version.

When classes still using the previous version are automatically converted to the new version of Classroom, any class materials that exist in the Class Settings page will not be carried over to the converted classes. You will still be able to access these materials, excluding any YouTube content, via the Drive folder.

Instructors can recreate the same experience in the new version of Classroom by adding the same materials to the Classwork page.

What do I need to do?

Any classes still using the previous version of Classroom will be automatically converted to the new version of Classroom. Although instructors will be advised of this change through in-product notifications starting in August, we recommend that you notify instructors within your domain of this update.
